Gates thought that he was going to make a fuss and that he had the black president’s backing – but thankfully the officer he decided to mess with was well credited. If this the officer on the scene had been a rookie the media would have crucified him. But this backfired for racist Gates and Obama.

But I’m not sure what you consider “record lows”. Do you mean the lowest approval rating any President has ever had? That would require a drop of almost 30 points from today’s ratings. Do you mean the lowest he’s had yet? If so, his lowest is still higher than most Presidents at this stage of their presidency. So I can’t answer yes or no.
