As Americans we want to be #1 in everything we have to offer our citzens in comparison to other countries. We want to be THE place to live. The facts show that we are not #1 in healthcare. In 2007 a survey showed that Australia is number 1 in healthcare. If cost is a concern for you, healthcare costs in percentage per GDP in US is 16.1% in comparison with Australia’s 8.7%. Those are the facts. If we want to be the best we should learn when to stop leading and start following.
@ebonics4everyone Not so. Back before the 30′s, before the government got involved in healthcare, mutual aid societies were abundant. There were thousands of them with many different offers but you could easily get a year of coverage for one day’s wages. If you were too poor to even afford that, there were shriner’s hospitals and many other charities willing to help you out.
When the AMA got their state granted monopoly, first thing they did was do away with all that.
Yeah” we the people”.. 70% of the American people want change. Medical expenses bankrupt more Americans than any other cause & they’re sick of being ripped off. They’ve had it with paying a doctor just to get a script that is available over the counter in any other 1st world country. The stats show it plain as day; the US, though spending more on heath care than anyone only rates 37th on the list. Appeals to patriotism won’t change anything!
If I am going to be forced to pay $300 a month for health care I don’t want, then I am just going to let myself go, and let myself get fat. That way I can get my money worth that I invested into this stupid socilist country, when I start having health problems as a result.
If we give them GOV health care to people who don’t have it they may actually want to live and that will cost even more money.
