The cable seems well built, but the “A” side connector is very thick,
I purchased two of these cables to replace the cables that came with WD external drives, of which I was having problems with one of them. I thought it was possibly the cables that came with the drives themselves, so these were ordered as replacements. It turned out that it was the connector on one of the WD drives itself–not the stock cables.
As far as these cables go, they are well built, and seemed to have good USB 3.0 transfer performance. However, the reason for a loss of a star, is that the width of the “A” connector is very thick–so much so, that you can’t use two of them together in side-by-side ports. Comparing the thickness of these “A” connectors to the ones that came with the drives (also USB 3.0), there is a significant difference (1 – 2 mm), which is a lot for something that should be able to sit in USB ports next to each other. The stock cables that came with the drives fit nicely.
If you are only going to use one cable in one port with nothing next to it, these cables should be fine. But if you have two ports next to each other, they may not both be able to fit.

|Gets the job done,
I recently bought a Buffalo Technology MiniStation Cobalt 640GB SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive and it came with a foot-long cable that is fine for stuffing in my bag along with the drive, but I needed a longer cable for use at home with my desktop computer. This Tripp-Lite does the job. It’s well-made and it fits well into the hard drive. It’s also blue, which distinguishes it from all the other black cables I have. Recommended.

|Great product,
Bought this as a back up for my Toshiba portable external hard drive. Works like a charm on a product that you cannot find parts for in any walk in store.
