If Mitt Romney gets elected and repeals the health reform law, more than 72 million Americans will lack health insurance and health care costs will rise, a Commonwealth Fund report says. If President Barack Obama wins, 27 million will be without insurance and costs will fall, the group predicts.

Question by Paul: Would it be better to buy health insurance before or after the new health care legislation passes?
I’m a healthy young person with no pressing need for any health care right now. I want to buy health insurance, but I don’t know if I should wait until after the health care legislation passes.

Will premiums likely be higher or lower afterwards? Will I be able to cross state lines to buy health insurance afterwards? These are just two examples, but I’m interested in ANY factors.

Thanks!

Nobody really knows the answer to your questions because the final bill hasn’t been presented as of yet. The Rebulicans want to be able to buy across state lines but the Democrats don’t and they’re not listening to anything the Republicans say, and buying across state lines has not previously been in any versions of the bill. Anyone that knows anything about health insurance will tell you that the premiums will go up because there is little in the bill that actually reduces health care costs. However, don’t hold your breath because if and when the bill passes the only immediate effect will be an increase in taxes; the insurance won’t be available until 2014. The current projections are 10 years of taxes to pay for 6 years of benefits.

Question by Liberals are just better people: Would Jesus want people to have affordable healthcare?
Or would he be wearing pancake makeup, witha teabag on his head, carrying a sign, protesting on the White House lawn?
Isn’t it hypocritcal to be a Christian and claim to care about others, yet not want to see all Americans get affordable healthcare because it’s going to come out of tax money that you already have to pay anyway?
Aren’t liberals just kinder, more caring people?
Is the true religious icon for conservatives really just the $ $ ?

During the first three months of 2012 alone, state lawmakers introduced 944 provisions related to reproductive health. Fully half of those were restrictions making it harder for a woman to end a pregnancy. These include mandatory, invasive ultrasounds, like the one enacted in Virginia, and even laws that allow your employer or pharmacist to deny you access to birth control. Some politicians are trying to restrict your access to reproductive health care — that’s a fact.

Does it make you sad? Maybe you should actually read up on the actual bill and not buy into what Fox is telling you, there’s a reason it passed, because it’s damn good legislation.

Unfortunately, I was wrong and Barack the Longshanks strikes another blow to American citizens.

Answer by Reality has a Liberal Bias
That would be terrific.

Republicans are working hard to give insurance companies the ability to raise premiums 39%. This just happened in California.

Question by : Would this be a workable compromise with Republicans who want to repeal the health care law?
As a Liberal I even agree with Republicans that there is something wrong with forcing people to purchase health insurance.

I would gladly see the health care law repealed in exchange for one concession from the republican party. And this is it.

Allow those of us who buy private health insurance, those who are unable to buy health insurance due to pre-existing conditions and those who are not happy with employer based insurance to form
a Public Option Insurance Company.

This Public Option would be voluntary and open to those who wanted to go this route. The rest of you can stay put if you like your current plan.

How about it?
