During his recent speech before a joint session of congress, Obama stated that he would not sign any (healthcare) bill if it will not save us money now and in the future. But as much as some people may like to believe that will happen, we have to be real here. In all honesty, when was the last time anything interfered with by the federal government came in at a cost LOWER than anticipated? The fact is there are always unexpected costs and fees associated with any government program, which usually come down to taxes. Keep in mind that Obama did not mention anything that would be in the bill about that he would not be allowed to raise taxes (at least not to my knowledge). So while Obama might talk about lowering costs and refusing to sign a bill that doesn’t do so, the reality is it will probably simply appear that costs have been lowered on the surface, while meanwhile there are any number of unforseen costs that will ultimately come down to taxes. An example of this would be occasions where Bush has given speeches indicating how he has “lowered” the cost of things (the war, e.t.c.) although the lower/middle class was being taxed like no tomorrow to foot the bill

President Obama’s overall job approval rating has fallen to an all-time low of 44 percent, down five points from late March, just before the health bill’s passage in the House of Representatives. It’s down 24 points since his all-time high last April. Forty-one percent of those polled said they disapproved of the president’s performance.

When it comes to health care, the President’s approval rating is even lower — and is also a new all-time low. Only 34 percent approved, while 55 percent said they disapproved.
