Question by Average Joe: Will president Obama make the health plan of members of congress available to all americans?
I’m a little confused about Obama’s health care plan. Now that he’s the next president I’d like someone to explain his health care plan to me like you would explain it to a 4-year old. I read that he wants to create some kind of a National Health Insurance Exchange which sounds a little strange to me (I hope I’m the only one?). How would this make health care more affordable?

We’ll never have national health care….presidents have tried it for years.

I hope he does something, but you must realize that America pays more per capita than ANY OTHER COUNTRY for providing healthcare to people. We will never fix the healthcare issue until we fix the illegal immigrant issue. We are insuring 40 million illegals right now..how are we to afford all of the legal citizens when our money is now going to insure illegal immigrants. I read an article recently that said in California alone, way back in 1994, we spent almost 300 million dollars just on births of babies born to Illegals…almost 74K births. I would hate to see what the numbers are in 2008. We have free healthcare, but it’s going to illegal immigrants right now. In California, if you are low income, you can sign up for medical, or basic adult healthcare, and kids get free through medical. We also have a program where you can buy insurance based on your income.

I’m worried if he implements his healthcare plan, my family might lose their insurance through our employer because our employer will know we can buy it on our own through the government….which we really can’t afford to do for 5 people.

The healthcare issue will not be fixed for many years, until all of our money stops going to support illegal immigrants. Even when you can buy it under an Obama plan…you will still have to BUY it!

What do you think? Answer below!

I feel like the AMA only allows a few graduates for med school and make the tests so difficult that we are not getting enough medical doctors to meet our demands.

Therefore we need to get busy and provide more schools and lesson the criteria for testing. They make it difficult to keep the demand high and the pay high. Ridiculous!

Increasingly, U.S. patients in need of dental care are opting to go overseas where equivalent treatments are a fraction of what they cost back home – a recent report from the overseas experts at InternationalLiving.com reveals. For less than the cost of treatment alone in the United States, a patient can receive high-quality careand a vacationabroad.

Dental care costs have been increasing rapidly in the U.S. in recent years. However, only 55% of U.S. residents have dental insurance so almost half are forced to pay out-of-pocket for dental work.

Many of those who do have insurance are still paying 50% of costs when deductibles and co-pays are factored in.

As a result, many Americans who need a signicant amount of dental work done are turning to treatment options outside the country where costs run about 30% to 50% of U.S. prices. A Deloitte Center for Health Solutions study estimates a 35% annual growth rate in the number of Americans heading abroad for lower-cost medical treatments, many of which are dental-related.

Dental care in countries like Mexico, India, or Costa Rica is a fraction of the U.S. cost and standards are extremely high often exceeding what is on offer in the U.S.

I lost my dental insurance along with my job in the recession and I needed over $ 2,000 in dental work, said American Starr Daubenmire in InternationalLiving.com’s report.

I could either go to my home-town dentist, just 10 minutes from my house, and spend $ 2,100 in a few hoursor I could get the same work done in Costa Rica and have a 10-day vacation, too, for about $ 2,600.

Daubenmire said that a crown that would have cost $ 1,200 in her U.S. clinic, was only $ 400 in Costa Rica, while the other treatments she underwent were similarly inexpensive.

The treatments abroad came to just over 35% of the total price quoted by my dentist back in Ohio, said Daubenmire. Plus, the facilities were spotless and the X-ray technology was more modern than what Ive seen in the States.

Daubenmire, like many other Americans going overseas for treatments, used the opportunity to visit her host country.

My rst stop was Arenal, about three hours from San Jos

LOL- You are not forced to buy car insurance if you do NOT have a car. See the difference??????? My grandmother has no car and nobody has forced her to buy insurance on one.

When is the government going to tell you what kind of car you must buy, or what you will be eating tonight????
