I haven’t been following that closely for the last week or so. Is the buy in to Medicare plan now out?

- Medicare Tax? Health Care for the Elderly? Let’s look at the facts about the proposed Medicare Tax … and a medical care program for the aged that already exists! What’s the hurry here? The supporters of the proposed Medicare Tax would have you believe that passage of this controversial bill is urgent … that persons over 5 are deprived of needed medical care because they can’t pay for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kerr-Mills Law, passed by Congress in 1960 – enabled individual states to guarantee to every elderly person who needs help the health care he or she requires. We call this health program … Health Opportunity for the Elderly. Thousands of people every day are being helped by its generous benefits. And unlike Medicare, which would substantially increase your Social Security Tax payroll deductions, existing programs are being paid for now by a part of your present tax dollar! Medicare? NO. Health Care for the Elderly? YES! ….. 1964 American Medical Association Ad, A5157.

No buy in to Medicare, no public Option.*
Gee I don’t know…who is offering Lieberman the most money?
Everything the democrats “supposedly” wanted has been stripped. No public option. No repeal of the law that gives a monopoly to the insurance companies and, according to former Senator Dean, the addition of loopholes that provides a way for insurance companies to significantly increase rates.
Here’s what I think about the Democrats, including Obama– for what it’s worth:
When I voted for Obama I really thought he was different—not the standard, say-anything-for-the-vote politician. I thought maybe here was a “real” reformer. He and the other Senate Democrats are complete sell-outs.
How can they pass a bill that adds no competition to the notoriously corrupt and ethically bankrupt insurance industry? How can they pass a bill that will make it mandatory for every American to buy there products and, worst yet, sick the IRS on us if we don’t. Passing this bill is similar to making a daycare center (average citizen) hire a pedophile (insurance company) to watch our kids (our health)!
The democrats refused to even repeal the law which gives the health insurance industry the only corporate monopoly in America. But they are known for holding up the average Joe? Yeah, right.
Obama said he believed in a public option to keep the insurance companies honest. Did he earnestly fight for it? Why did he stop moveon.org and other activist groups when they went after those senators who were against the public option? Was it not who gave Joe Lieberman his position! Given his intelligence and political savvy, do you think he just made a mistake? I am convinced that most democrats do not want health care reform. They– even Obama– get too much campaign money from the industry.
I’d like to thank the Democrats for ‘holding up’ the little guy—i.e. taking our money and giving it to the insurance companies, pulling a reverse Robin Hood.
You sold us out. What goes around, comes around.
