- Medicare Tax? Health Care for the Elderly? Let’s look at the facts about the proposed Medicare Tax … and a medical care program for the aged that already exists! What’s the hurry here? The supporters of the proposed Medicare Tax would have you believe that passage of this controversial bill is urgent … that persons over 5 are deprived of needed medical care because they can’t pay for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kerr-Mills Law, passed by Congress in 1960 – enabled individual states to guarantee to every elderly person who needs help the health care he or she requires. We call this health program … Health Opportunity for the Elderly. Thousands of people every day are being helped by its generous benefits. And unlike Medicare, which would substantially increase your Social Security Tax payroll deductions, existing programs are being paid for now by a part of your present tax dollar! Medicare? NO. Health Care for the Elderly? YES! ….. 1964 American Medical Association Ad, A5157.

The voice of reason is often covered by loud mouth fools. I thank you Mr. Rogers for speaking up so that everyone can hear. This type of health care is worse than none, quality is in almost all cases better than quantity.
Please continue working through this Mr. Rogers, your time and reason is greatly appreciated.
Mike Rodgers gets Health Lobby $, Free Gov Healthcare which us poor suckers pay 4 thru Taxes, gets a generous pay check & the perks. While I have an Overpriced under Insured Health Insurance policy thanks to Blue Cross/Anthem of Calif I can bearly afford now. And I won’t be able to afford it in a few years. I worry constantly about it. I’m a Taxpayer now. If I have to drop my policy & I get sick I will have to declare Bankruptcy! Mike Rodgers is part of the problem not the solution.
Where were all these Carring Repubs including Mike Rodgers when Pres Bush was in office & they had a Majority vote? When did they say they want to reform the Health System when they had a chance w/ their marvelous Ideas under Bush? They only come out of the woodwork when they have to & go after ANY reform. Nixon as I remember was the last Repub who really was serious about this problem. If Obama would agreed to all their “ideas” they’d back out w/ some lame excuse. “Waterloo” sez it all!
Mr. Rodgers, Keep collecting that Free Gov Healthcare & Insurance Lobby money!!!! We need you soooooo bad!!!
And what are private insurance companies doing right now? Wake up, pal.
Amen…….I wish this guy would run for President
I wish Charlie Dent from Pennsylvania had half Mr. rogers brains and balls.
His words are golden apples n a silver tray.
President Rogers has a good ring to it.
Excellent – well said. Mr. Rogers. I have a great deal of respect for leaders such as yourself that are standing up and speaking out.
Now we need a reform plan that helps get the government even further away from healthcare so that the free market can do what it does best.
