- Medicare Tax? Health Care for the Elderly? Let’s look at the facts about the proposed Medicare Tax … and a medical care program for the aged that already exists! What’s the hurry here? The supporters of the proposed Medicare Tax would have you believe that passage of this controversial bill is urgent … that persons over 5 are deprived of needed medical care because they can’t pay for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kerr-Mills Law, passed by Congress in 1960 – enabled individual states to guarantee to every elderly person who needs help the health care he or she requires. We call this health program … Health Opportunity for the Elderly. Thousands of people every day are being helped by its generous benefits. And unlike Medicare, which would substantially increase your Social Security Tax payroll deductions, existing programs are being paid for now by a part of your present tax dollar! Medicare? NO. Health Care for the Elderly? YES! ….. 1964 American Medical Association Ad, A5157.

has everyone gone fucking wonky?! we are now being federally mandated to spend hard earned money on overpriced, nearly useless, PRIVATE healthcare plans which will undoubtedly increase greatly in price and depreciate in quality. we’re being taxed for being alive! ex-fucking-scuse me, but it’s like the government telling you that every American has to go buy a new boat. if you can’t afford to buy a new boat, then -sorry- you’ll be fined money for not having enough money. sounds like freedom to me
@badtown88
Agreed. There is no shame in being against the bill because it’s not universal healthcare. It’s like the fight for democracy, it never ends. Just as there will never be a day when we can just get up and say democracy is finished…. we can never say that we have finished the fight for healthcare. The two are intertwined.
And we’ll have opportunities in the future to strengthen it, how the fuck will repealing it help?? Really, the GOP for me has no common sense on this issue
Tssss there was ONE Republican vote, let’s not forget that!
@loci1400
LOL! That’s funny!
The only people who should be against this bill are those (myself included) who think it doesn’t go nearly far enough. Those that are pissed that we did anything should really just shut the fuck up.
Who is Rush Dumbo.
Fuck’s news is shitty news. Never watch them since Obama won.
Give him time. It is not easy finding an Antonov to fly his fat ass out.
