You think the UK’s health care system is good? It is. But check out the one in Australia. Universal. But relax, Americans. The wealthy can still choose to have private insurance so we maintain the gap between the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. Which, afterall, the Republicans are all about.
Right about now someone much worse decides if you get to live or not – the insurance companies. If you have the money, you are fine, but if you don’t have enough money, you are screwed dead.
Anyway, I don’t agree completely with the bill, but I understand that there will be a government option. That means that you can still go with the insurance companies, if you want to.
Living in the UK i am in a position to know a lot more about the NHS than you do. According to the WHO, the UK’s healthcare is 15th in the world. Not perfect, and the press in the UK is rightly criticising its flaws. However, the US was ranked 35th. The NHS may have been founded by socialists over here but remains one of the touchstones many of us but the far right tend to agree with on principle. By the way, I happened across this while researching American history and wanted to comment.

I went to a search engine and put in these words. Comprehensive Women’s Healthcare In Reform Bill. and i found the page of a well known organization with a message for its readers. The site practically begs ppl 2 and send Congress an email or else.
Given what Obama and others have said i was rather shocked.

What they have said about the UK system is all lies designed to scare the 150m Americans that watch their network and their plan is appears to be working….come on America WAKE UP! Do a google search, and check out the BBC web-sites for some REAL information on the NHS in the UK.

Most americans are dumb,seriously,uneducated about world knowledge.If U tell an american,that most european countries provide by law at least 30 days vacation,they think its a joke,or healtcare is provided for everyone for free,paid out of taxes.Thats why the US society is so violent.People work 2 jobs,are afraid to get sick,and if their lucky,they’ll have 5 vacation days in a year
Now – if our NHS was soo bad as some of the US media have suggested…believe me, the Brits are not stupid..we would have canned it…but the reality is – the service has developed over 60 years and is an integral part of the UK and it ssist in keeping the costs of drugs down…Obama is right there!
In the UK what you earn is irrelevant…if you are a citizen then you get the treatment. The NHS employs some of the worlds leading doctors..and is a wonderful service. Does it cost a lot of money? You bet. Is it worth it? Absolutely. Would a UK government shut it down? Never because it would be political suicide.
Zigzag..In the UK, universal healthcare is seen as a basic human right. We call it the National Health Service. It is for the whole Nation. No-one is left out but if you want to go private you can…there is nothing “socialist” about this. Margaret Thatcher was a massive supporter of the NHS. Every UK Prime Minister since Bevan created the NHS has been.
Jesus never said spoil your population and never let them grow up and take responsibility for their selves. The countries you talk about all suffer from lackluster economic growth. In American 80% of the millionaires are self made. Not so in those countries- there you are either born rich or dependent on the government. I love that America my parents may have been poor but I still be anything I want to be. Higher taxes make it impossible for the poor to become rich-it kills upward mobility.

Also,all countries who have universal healhcare,do not see it as “why should i pay for someone,who does not work” in those countries,people stick together AS ONE NATION and help eacother out…we are one pathetic selfish “community” the worst part is….we are the only nation who keeps talking about God and Jesus and even have the word God on the dollar bill…but still,compared to the real christian nations : germany,italy,spain,france…they do the christian thing – being one united nation!!!

No surprise that California, one of the richest but most liberal state, especially in fiscal term, is on the edge of bankruptcy. Now Californian socialist model with its highest tax rate, strictest enviromental protection rules, and very generous welfare and healthcare systems is copied by Obama administration with its ambitious, costly health care reform of one trillion dollars for everybody including 12 milliions illegal immigrants who would be naturalized under Obama immigration reform.
The US is #37 as the world’s best healthcare. France is #1. There’ no excuse for the wealthiest country in the world to be lagging so badly in healthcare. Americans can be so stupid and easily manipulate by fear smears but the facts are we need reform.
