Mike Rogers discusses the new government-run health care bill, HB 3962

- Medicare Tax? Health Care for the Elderly? Let’s look at the facts about the proposed Medicare Tax … and a medical care program for the aged that already exists! What’s the hurry here? The supporters of the proposed Medicare Tax would have you believe that passage of this controversial bill is urgent … that persons over 5 are deprived of needed medical care because they can’t pay for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kerr-Mills Law, passed by Congress in 1960 – enabled individual states to guarantee to every elderly person who needs help the health care he or she requires. We call this health program … Health Opportunity for the Elderly. Thousands of people every day are being helped by its generous benefits. And unlike Medicare, which would substantially increase your Social Security Tax payroll deductions, existing programs are being paid for now by a part of your present tax dollar! Medicare? NO. Health Care for the Elderly? YES! ….. 1964 American Medical Association Ad, A5157.

Where were all these Carring Repubs including Mike Rodgers when Pres Bush was in office & they had a Majority vote? When did they say they want to reform the Health System when they had a chance w/ their marvelous Ideas under Bush? They only come out of the woodwork when they have to & go after ANY reform. Nixon as I remember was the last Repub who really was serious about this problem. If Obama would agreed to all their “ideas” they’d back out w/ some lame excuse. “Waterloo” sez it all!
Here is what EVERYONE is missing: The only way to fix the healthcare crisis is to GET RID OF HEALTH INSURANCE FOR PROFIT!! Why am I the only one that can see this?!! The republicans want to give us subsidies (our tax dollars), so that we can afford the overpriced cost of healthcare? Well this keeps the insurance companies’ profits on the rise, but continues to kill us! DON’T YOU UNDERSTAND THEY PROFIT FROM OUR DEATHS, BY DENYING NECESSARY CARE!!
this shit is an outrage i say we as a state exercise the 10th amendment to the constitution….u people in michigan can have your goverment health care and keep your third world economy
I dont doubt you, BUT having a HIGH DRUG cost is a separate and hard lobbied problem.
More competition and tort reform would end those issues you have.
your problem cannot be fixed with this government plan, and thats a fact. I have NO healthcare now and Im in deeep doo doo medically.
I wish you well thxs for having a reasonable conversation
Formula, I pay a fortune right now & have to skip certain medical tests etc… I only can afford generic & go to Mexico 4 certain meds I can’t afford here. I’d get cheaper & better care in any socialized medical nation. Even my M.D. agrees & is frustrated by the whole system! Dogma & propaganda is doing nothing but keeping a very unjust & selfish system going which should have been changed years ago!
“Single payer” = NO competition = poor quality= higher costs.
Formula, “Government take over” I don’t draw that conclusion at all. I am for single payer & but will compromise w/ Public option. No need to debate the matter w/ me.
YUP PAY HUGE NEW taxes with a RISING UNEMPLOYMENT, for 4 YEARS before ANY stupid so called reforms take place.
really urget , doesnt anyone see this is just a Government take over??
as you recall BUSH wasnt a media puppet like the current president, nothing wrong with that, EXCEPT he never refuted all the LIES they SPEWED
Folmula, I agree w/ the following:
“Government healthcare in 2014, MUST BE URGENT”. “DRUG costs hat always seeemed to get lumped into healthcare and should be looked at separately”.
The rest NO.
Formula, Bush had to have a COPY of the TV News 2 find out what was happening! Face the facts, yes others were also to blame but “The Emperor had no clothes” not to mention just about everything else he was involved in.
I actually don’t blame Bush (he would be fun to have a beer with) but the ones who brought him into power are to blame. He obviously was not up 2 the job.
Bush is about #6 on the list to blame, no need to make him #1
Local, County,State, Guard, Fema, FEDS….
partially true, but thats where the soluton lies, in REMOVING THE CORRUPTION, AND the other and BIGGER issue is DRUG costs hat always seeemed to get lumped into healthcare and should be looked at separately.
Governt CANT run a STIMULUS package, not CLUNKERS program, and you want them in your body??
want to PAY TAXES till 2014 FOR NOTHING??
TAX US NOW, Government healthcare in 2014, MUST BE URGENT!! LMAO
Health Insurance Companies aren’t the solution they are the Problem. They are basically Middlemen who pay off politicians with lobby money. Waste money denying health coverage. Spend money on advertising. The CEO’S are rolling in Doh. They have Stockholders..etc… This is the stupid!
No, what you don’t care about is hearing anyone else’s viewpoint. You want everyone else to hear yours, and your opinion is all that matters. You wouldn’t respect anyone else’s opinion unless it mirrored yours. I never said ‘Johnny did it too’ I said the first blame lies with FEMA and the local officials, just as with any disaster. Our governor and mayor have the task of handling their own domains. The Feds only come in once the gov and mayor LET them do so.
I don’t care if the others were also to blame which is probably true. Bush performed horribly & everyone knows it but you. I don’t blame Bush though, his supporters could never tell the Emperor has no clothes! I’d have more respect 4 your opinion if u didn’t keep saying: “Well Johnny did it too!!!”
FEMA stinks, yes, but Nagin let school buses sit empty and didn’t get his people out. Amtrak offered to help, but they denied the help. Blanco’s quote: “We all know that there were failures at every level of government: state, federal and local. At the state level, we must take a careful look at what went wrong and make sure it never happens again. The buck stops here, and as your governor, I take full responsibility,” Blanco told lawmakers in a special meeting of the Louisiana Legislature.
“You’re doing a Heck of a job Brownie!” Says it all.
tnt, Come on. Bush was 1st on the list & don’t forget the Buck stops w/ him period.
No, he means FEMA, Ray Nagin and Kathleen Blanco. The first and worst blunderers were the locals.
Tried twice to post links here with good discussions. This response feature doesn’t like links. You make me laugh. As if we could seriously propose the answers in 500 characters when these idiots in DC are pumping out bills of 2,000 pages.
My website is evergreenappraisers . com. On the right side of the tool bar is a button named Healthcare Discussion. There you can read Dr. Greg De Santo’s letter to Senator Kyl. Also check out John Mackey’s Op Ed on the WSJ. CEO of Whole Foods
He’s not in your corner unless your a Health Ins Lobbyist. Well actually he’d be in your pocket!
tntplatt, I have heard this again & again. What is the solution to the reformation of our current health system? Please be specific.
Derbyclown and megarational: think beyond our current system. Reform is necessary, but not what’s on the table right now. What is being proposed in congress has absolutely nothing to do with changing our healthcare for the better, it’s purely a control grab by the power elite and that power elite is certainly not the insurance companies. It’s the Fed and those behind it. Pelosi et al are marionets for those really licking their chops to seal the deal on controlling our healthcare system.
Rep. Rodgers protects the Heatlh Ins Companoes & accepts Evil Gov Healthcare on our Dime!
