Of course we know their charges are being written off by hospitals and reimbursed by the fed, but what about the fact that the group that usually caters to illegals in all different matters will ice them from health care?
I understand that they will probably will be covered in some way (be it write off or whatever) but does it bother you that *politics* are being played about this issue if its an important one?

Well; yes. And its not ’cause of the moral argument. Its ’cause we know that getting them covered is gonna clear up Emergency Rooms and lower costs.

Allow me to make it very clear that I am quite left of center, although I am not a Democrat. In these circumstances, I absolutely have no problem with illegal aliens being denied access to the public health care option should it become a reality.
As it stands now, the government already subsidizes that cost with emergency room care. Sadly, many are functioning as primary health care for the poor and insurance-less, irrespective of citizenship.
In point of fact, were the public option to be pass, it would probably mean that our emergency rooms would function better, because poor citizens would be able to access normal primary health care. Among other things, that would reduce the costs associated with health care for illegals and at the same time improve the quality of their care at emergency rooms.
And here’s the kicker: had we passed President Bush’s plans for immigration reform (which this liberal thought extraordinarily sensible), probably these issues would have become far less important.

I think that the previous administration, having let so many of them enter without documentation for themselves or their employers paychecks are largely responsible for this and virtually everything else that has gone wrong with this country since then. I do not understand why so many Americans have fallen for lies about healthcare in the USA, abroad and also the planned reforms [1]. I mean, if the healthcare system in the USA is so good, why have no other nations taken it up? Could it be due to the following facts?
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet [2].
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids under five than western European countries with universal health coverage [3].
Or if the US healthcare system is run so well, why not run the fire service like the healthcare system? [4]

Obama wants to make insurance cheaper, stop insurance companies from refusing health coverage to those with pre-existing conditions, and make sure they pay out when they are meant to [6], a system similar to that which works in Taiwan [7]. He debated this before he was elected [8].
Is it right that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, Cuba, Germany and so many other industrialised nations with universal healthcare?

Actually, they are planning to try to use the old “don’t ask, don’t tell” rule to make cheap, government subsidized insurance available to illegals.
Since I work at a health care facility that is close to the border, I can tell you that this is going to cost the American taxpayer hundreds of millions of dollars every year. My facility already ends up loosing millions each year to illegals who simply refuse to use the locally available free health care facilities and instead choose to go to the ER for minor, non-emergency stuff.
And you do not want to get me started on the number of women who cross the border just to have their babies! Last month we discharged triplets that were delivered in a border town and flown here for care. Their bill was over one million dollars-each!
