- Medicare Tax? Health Care for the Elderly? Let’s look at the facts about the proposed Medicare Tax … and a medical care program for the aged that already exists! What’s the hurry here? The supporters of the proposed Medicare Tax would have you believe that passage of this controversial bill is urgent … that persons over 5 are deprived of needed medical care because they can’t pay for it. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Kerr-Mills Law, passed by Congress in 1960 – enabled individual states to guarantee to every elderly person who needs help the health care he or she requires. We call this health program … Health Opportunity for the Elderly. Thousands of people every day are being helped by its generous benefits. And unlike Medicare, which would substantially increase your Social Security Tax payroll deductions, existing programs are being paid for now by a part of your present tax dollar! Medicare? NO. Health Care for the Elderly? YES! ….. 1964 American Medical Association Ad, A5157.

Obongo?
Its unfare. Might as well have everyone be poor so we can get paid for nothing.
Not everybody that wants to work, can get a job! Even those of us with doctoral level education! That is why my education goes to wast while I fix old lawn mowers up for resale! Then, no one wants to pay what it cost to fix them up! They think I should work for nothing! Funny thing, many patients felt the same way. They would see me then say they did not have any money to pay me! I never got rich. Maybe that is why!?
I was the only doc, in my small town, doing home visits. I guess that was not “standard of care”! But, the competition managed to put me out of business. I wonder why? Maybe I made them look bad!?
It is not the libertarian thing “to do”. No one can be forced, according to the freedom afforded us by the Constitution. They do not have the right to enforce it. I think this bill would be as costly (as in Massachusetts?). Why not ask the doctors and patients what they think could be done? Ron Paul says stop licensing and let people decide who they want to pay for. A cheap doc, nurse, or chiropractor or use the high priced specialists?! Leave it up to the people and stop interfering!
Here is the thing: with the recession dragging on, and the failure of the stimulus to actually stimulate anything more than a few crooks wallets, the debate on healthcare is dragging on and getting weaker. It would be the smart move to take what you can get now, and build on the legislation over the ensuing years. I don’t think most liberals are savvy enough to see the bird in hand. If they dont take what they can now, it may be another generation before they get another chance.
Lets just IMPEACH OBONGO.
wow way to contribute to the subject, you must be really proud of yourself internet tough guy
hell yeah i agree kill it!! we now have a mandate without a fucking option?? fuk that!!! Kill it!!! This bill is a slap in the face of all of us that voted for this “So-called change” good vid
Universal healthcare- Still alive and kicking.

What are you talking about?
Obama is whack left as you get. This is the best your ever going to get. It is not just the republicans. A lot of Democrats are not down with socialism either.
I told you he was done. He is at the point where he comes back to the center or he tumbles till 2012.
Public Option- Toast
Cap n Trade- Toast
What’s next?
now matter how you bounce it its about folks taking more of our money, I am happy to contribute to others peoples care who are truly disabled, older, or kids with parents who do not want to work, but able bodied folks should carry their own wait. Wake up folks, both partys are fucking us, both with abuse ie, banker bailourt, stimulus, and continues war, both parties are the same fucking thing, we are in scary shit, good vid LY1
Lungyao, NOT everybody will be forced into this MANDATE….but it is wrong nevertheless, because the entire mandate ENRICHES the private insurance even more, pushing even more people to into the very system which is broken to start with. And if the poor cannot afford these private insurance mandates, then WE as tax-payers will pay the bills via totally inadequate ‘subsidies”, which will solve absolutely NOTHING. There is NO provision in this bill which places a cap on premiums they can charge
LY1:
You really done it now! You have upset Chris “the leg thrill” Mathews by insulting his god.
get out of the trailer and get a job
I would fix healthcare insurance by capping tort claims, eliminating basic services coverage, requiring employers to have voluntary health savings accounts for their employees that are pre tax dollars (and make them portable), allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines for catastrophic and long term insurance. I would not deny indigent care to U.S. citizens, and would require any doctor to provide indigent care, but I would also make sure the feds payed on time for medicaid.
LY1:
I can only speak for myself, but the mandate was a nonstarter for me, becuase it took away freedom. Basically you would have the feds forcing everyone to buy a service. That has never happened in the history of our nation. I think everyone should be free to purchase insurance or not (I hate it but I buy it for my family). I think there needs to be a safety net for people out of work. I am willing to have my tax dollars pay for that safety net (as long as it doesnt go to illegal aliens).
pretty good vid, I lean more towards the conservative side of the spectrum and I totally agree with you. This bill should be killed ASAP. I wasn’t totally against a public option but what they are trying to do now is sickening this is nothing but another tax for the American people.
With health insurance the gov’t is damned if they do and damned if they don’t. They want to add everyone to the roles. The laws of supply and demand state that if you increase demand, and supply does not go up proportionally, then price will go up. Personally, I would like to see health insurance outlawed except for catastrophic coverage, which should be voluntary.
What is it that government does really well? Nothing!! What makes people think that this will be anymore successful than any of their other programs?
Google “congressman that voted for the health care bill” & start calling those dummies to let them know how you feel!!
One more thing, Where does the government get off thinking they can throw people in prison for five years and fine them $250,000 for not purchasing health insurence. It’s simply forced extortion with the threat of losing our freedoms and liberties. And people rage about the patriot act, that had nothing on this.
We do need reform, Just not this type of reform, The medicare 55 deal got cut out day before yesterday as well. This current reform is nothing but a Tax and Spend bill and packed full of corruption to the big Drug companies. with sweetheart big contracts with the government. attaching response video.
I don’t want ANY government run health care. I want a smaller government. The government can’t mandate lower costs, only the free market can do that. I dont want to have to pay for someones elses health care and I dont want to be forced by the government to buy my own healthcare.
