During an appearance on Fox News America Live with Megyn Kelly, House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) discussed GOP efforts to repeal President Obamas budget-busting government takeover of health care and replace it with common-sense solutions focused on lower costs. He also condemned the recent threats and acts of violence and made clear that Americans who are frustrated and angry at Washington should instead focus on registering voters and other focus positive efforts to elect a Congress that will listen to the people. Following are highlights of Boehners interview: BOEHNER HIGHLIGHTS GOP EFFORTS TO REPEAL THE DEMS HEALTH BILL AND START OVER WITH SOLUTIONS TO LOWER COSTS: Well, I think that we need to repeal this bill and replace it with common sense reforms that will bring down the cost of health insurance. But with a Democrat President for the next two and a half years, even if we gained the Majority, its going to be very difficult to repeal this bill outright. But things like if I were the Speaker of the House, and we were the Majority, Id have a bill on the floor that would eliminate the $500 billion worth of Medicare cuts. I would have a bill on the floor that takes away this individual mandate, and the employer mandate, and the tax increases. In addition to that, its going to take appropriated funds to actually come through the process to fund the hiring of new employees, to create these new bureaucracies. I cant imagine that a Republican Congress is going

    Boner, huh huh

  • warningfireexit:

    Boehner was part of the problem for years and now he’s supposedly a solution. Ain’t shit change with this guy. He backs the insurance companies to the fullest.

    “Well, there are a lot of angry Americans…” Yeah, pissed-off Republicans throwing a temper tantrum that they lost control of the Majority. Unfortunately, they failed to see that it was because there are MORE angry Americans pissed off that the Republicans and their stooge George W. Bush ran the country into the ground!

    Boehnor, Cantor, Limbau, Beck, Hannity, Palin and Bachman are walking, talking, GOP hemorrhoids.

    @boeing737southwest Corrupt, huh? I guess I’m waiting for the judicial shoe to drop on that one. I wouldn’t assume too much from all the frothing at the mouth going on in the right-wing echo chamber.
    Immigration reform here we come!

    @stysonss My birthday is a couple months before november, so thank god Ill be able to help vote out these democrats.

  • boeing737southwest:

    @brandnutopian Yea well it will keep this congress from passing anymore currupt bills like this one.

  • boeing737southwest:

    @TheLiberalssuckdick I completely agree, once the Chinese refuses to keep excepting our debt, then we’ll have to start cutting all these bullshit government programs.

  • Daverph1234:

    unbelievable….

  • brandnutopian:

    @stysonss Repeal and replace is a bullshit slogan. Even if Republicans won every seat in the House and Senate up for grabs this Fall (2010), they would still be below the threshold of a 2/3 majority necessary to overturn a presidential veto. They’re promising an impossibility and they know it.

  • stysonss:

    The GOP wants to repeal the bill that will save the country hundreds of billions of dollars – and, incidentally, repeal the changes that stop insurance companies from screwing their clients. Amazing. Please run on this in November. Please.

  • mef75baby:

    Actually all conservatives have a falsehoods and lies!

    Where is the armegeddon?

    Republicans have spent like crazy over the last 30 years and now want to pin it on OBAMA

  • givethemahand:

    The 2 problems with health care in the US are access and cost. This bill deals with access. Considering how hard it was to get a 2000 page bill passed…it’s logical to assume a larger bill that dealt with both access & cost would have been impossible to pass.
    Cost (by necessity) will have to be dealt with in the future (hopefully the near future). But, half of the job is now done.
    It will not be pretty overhauling our increasing more dysfunctional health care system…but it is necessary.

    72% young voters went for Obama. Why? he is young, energetic, truthful and knew how to motivate people. Unfortunately the RNC lacks young leadership. Look at this guy Boehner, RNC chair Steele, and McCain – all corporate people, not people minded, all of them are OLD and live on vitamin pills and unable to guide people. Get rid of these people and elect younger ones who understands and feel the pulse of America.

    @noseldnik regarding your comment:

    “Boehner is the reigning King Pinhead of Wacko Island, better known as the extreme right. I think Palin is their new Diva Queen, and Limbaugh is the court jester. Vince McMan couldn’t get away with these characters in the WWE! Yet almost half of all voters can’t see what obvious liars and manipulators they are.”

    Yup.

    @pokeinsider Regarding your comment:

    “What’s becoming clearer every day is that you are lying and Fox News is a bunch of liars”:

    You’re right, though I would put “News” in quotes – FOX is not a legitimate news organization.

  • GradStud28:

    So we are to trust one, single politician on the Senate Budge Committee (and not his 22 colleagues on the committee), but not the team of professionals who do this for a living – under Republican and Democratically controlled congresses – in the CBO? We know that Republicans simply make things up without regard for the facts or truth. Why should we not assume that Boehner and the others are simply continuing to lie to us?
