Facts:
•In Texas, where the state comptroller estimates illegal immigrants cost hospitals $1.3 billion in 2006, the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston is considering denying cancer care to such immigrants.
•State legislatures across the country are seeking to limit the costs to taxpayers of illegal immigration, including health care benefits. In May, Oklahoma lawmakers restricted illegal immigrants from receiving most public benefits; other states, such as Nebraska, are seeking to follow suit. A bill introduced in Indiana this month would make hospitals report how much they spend on illegal immigrants.
•On a national level, an effort to add legal immigrant children to the State Children’s Health Insurance Program was blocked in the Senate last year. Instead, lawmakers added language to ensure that illegal immigrants were excluded.
In California, a 2004 study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform put the state’s annual cost at $1.4 billion. Similar studies in Colorado and Minnesota in 2005 came up with much smaller estimates: $31 million and $17 million, respectively.
One thing is clear: Undocumented immigrants are driving up the number of people without health insurance. The Pew Hispanic Center estimates that 59% of the nation’s illegal immigrants are uninsured, compared with 25% of legal immigrants and 14% of U.S. citizens. Illegal immigrants represent about 15% of the nation’s 47 million uninsured people — and about 30% of the increase since 1980.
I for one do not think it is my responsbility to pay for their healthcare. Why do you democrats feel that it is the country’s responsibility?

I think it is unfair when you have an American who is struggling in this economy turned down for benefits yet an illegal can come here and we welcome them with open arms and all the benefits they could ask for without ever paying taxes in their life

Excepting trauma treatment they should get nothing unless they have insurance.
I would hate to leave anybody with a broken back or leg laying in the street. But as far as rehab, drugs and all of that they are on their own.

This is America where 40% of the citizens do not pay taxes. I’m sure most of them are democrat. So it does not matter to them because they are not helping with the bill.

Yeah, I think they are the problem. I think that the American government cares more for those people than they do the American people. They will give them anything loans, grants… but for a struggling American who pays taxes, they won’t even try to help.
I think illegal immigrants are the cause to a lot of problems.
They drain educational resources
Take up class room space making teach to student ratio out of portion
Very many are in gangs and drugs, causing crimes
They raise our health care cost
take our jobs
and a lot work under the table and do not pay taxes.

For All of those that believe in Universal Health Care, by all means you can give all the health care you want to anyone you want As Long As You Pay for It, I will not object you paying for it in anyway shape or form. Not only in the US but take it abroad, Africa,Middle East,Far East,Europe and let’s not forget Australia and New Zealand. If I have forgotten anyone by all means go ahead and pay for them a well.

here is how it works, they blow money, and when questioned, blame it on some issue they know Americans are really divided on, so while people are arguing, they are still making lots of money
The auto makers blamed the unions for losing money, yet, they have been building factory’s in Mexico (no unions there) and closing them here, and still losing money, this has been going on for years, and people still think “it’s the unions”
the Drug companies can charge the federal government what they want for drugs (Medicare, medicaid reform act), and they also use the most expensive drugs they sell, and tell the American public that it is illegals driving up the cost. No, it is the greedy drug companies driving up the cost.
Check and see who give the money for the “Federation for American Immigration Reform” bet you find they are funded by some drug companies.

edit* look at the board of directors for Federation for American immigration reform, most are directors in planned parenthood, the group that support eugenics, (the selective breeding out of minorities), or they are part of hedge fund groups ( invested in Oil companies)
Yes they are a big reason why we have those issues right now, and I believe that being that they are here illegally, we should NOT pay for their healthcare.
Note to Olan- You should look at the site you provided (FAIR) and take note of those who SUPPORT HR 5515 (amnesty and all that entails). They are most of the corporations and groups that you attack. Thank you for that site. If you read it and get beyond their board of directors, I think you’ll have to revise your rant.
There is no question that the unbridled ILLEGAL immigration we are experiencing has created huge social costs and a demographic that is destroying our culture. If you read the site that Olan kindly provided, it will highlight the special interest groups that have spent hundreds of millions of dollars to subvert what the majority of U.S. citizens want: Enforcement of our laws and control of our borders. You’ll come away even more disgusted with our politicians than you were before. Very simply, special interest dollars trump our will every time.
